Our Case Study: 2010 Pakistan Floods

The Floods began in late July 2010, when heavy monsoon rains caused flash floods in many areas of Pakistan, such as the Sindh province,
where the 11 districts were flooded. With more than 2700 people killed and hundreds of thousands stranded due to the floods, and over 14 million people affected, this was the worst flood that had hit the region in the last 80 years. Even in Indian-administered Kashmir, at least 113 people died in mudslides.
According to the federal flood commission, 557,000 hectares of crop land has been flooded across the country, 26300 houses have been destroyed and more than 10,000 cows have perished, greatly affecting the economy and infrastructure in the area.
